If you like collecting cookie jars then consider looking into a Fitz and Floyd cookie jar. The Fitz and Floyd company began in 1960 with two partners who intended to have an import company. Somewhere along the way they instead began creating ceramics including all manner of tableware.
One of the more popular lines appeared in the 1970 – sets of hand painted ceramics perfect for gift giving. It was in these collections that the amazing artistic vision of Fitz and Floyd began flourishing. In fact, their work was so impressive that dignitaries around the world commissioned unique pieces, and other government officials often had special items made for visiting ambassadors and leaders.

Beginning collectors might want to consider looking at some of the Hull cookie jar collection. This is a very affordable collectible for the most part, and they have great characteristics. Many experts feel that collecting Hull is a very sound investment with good appreciation value going forward.
Hull opened business in 1905. It focused on novelties, kitchenware, pottery and stoneware. Most of the cookie jars (and indeed all their products) had a matt finish until the 1950s when more glossy pieces were produced. The company remained operational until 1985.
There are certain classics in the Hull line that are very popular. One is the Red Riding Hood (Small Poppy Chain Flowers Collector Cookie Jar). Hull got assistance from Regal China to produce this cookie jar, which has a nice heft to it. Here, Red Riding hood is featured in a skirt decorated by poppy flowers and golden stars. Her hood has golden trim too, and her basket is wide open ready for goodies. To make sure you’ve found an original of this jar, look on the bottom. It should be marked 967 Hull Ware Little Red Riding Hood Patent Applied for USA. This jar should stand about 13” tall. The most valued of the Red Riding Hoods is a white jar with gold decals which is valued at $1,000.00.

A Betty Boop cookie jar is a must have for nostalgic collectors. She started out as a very attractive dog character was paired with a second dog, Bimbo. For a canine – she had some pretty impressive papers. Her style of music came from the Boop-Boop-a-Doop girl Helen Kane and figure was modeled after May West! It was 1930 and this siren became a hit, slowly losing any hint of ever being dog (her ears became earrings!). All in all Betty appeared in over 100 cartoons.
As with any such popular character a wide variety of Betty Boop merchandise has come into the market, some of it being highly collectible. There were quite a few cookie jars made from this character’s changing styles and cartoon appearances.
